Well everything seems to be getting a roof now, which is a good thing given the weather...this is the veledrome...one from the road underneath, and one from the A102 - I was expecting to get grabbed by the police as I whipped out the camera....

It's not that I've not been cycling...although I haven't, it's just that most of the interesting building is happening elsewhere on the site...plus some pictures I took corrupted...still here's the stadium tonight

Back to cycling past the site now, which seems to have ever more cranes, and the buildings are really taking shape. In the distance I can see the swimming centre, but this is an (unknown) building which has flown up in the last few weeks. And a rather poor picture of the main stadium....it looked beautiful as the sun set, so I must learn not to shake so much!

It's holiday time...so a posting from one of the most spectacular Olympic sites. Munich may be remembered less for its architecture and more for the terrible events during the games, but the Olympic Park is truly inspiring. And it is now being refurbished...

Another cheat...but for a reason. The BBC is currently showing a series with Griff Rhys Jones exploring our river ways. It's a good programme and well worth watching. This week he explored the Lee, or the Lea, whichever takes your fancy. And the Lee passes right through the Olympic site, so I've pinched some images from the programme...but judging by development, they were taken some time back.

I managed to find a detour today, so some different views....including the entrance to the site which curously looks a bit like the entrance to the Eurotunnel with its laning system. Buildings are flying up all over the place now, so I guess some of the city views will disappear.

A different branch of the canal, a slightly different view. There are still holes where the seating will go eventually. Looking good....although you can't really see that as I wanted to get the foliage around the canal exposed, so the stadium is over-exposed. Oh well that's what comes of using a phone rather han a real camera.

Yes, I've stolen this one from the Evening Standard (thank you...can everyone go and buy a copy of the newspaper so I don't get sued for breach of copyright). This is the aeriel view, three years before the gates open, and a picture I could never take, no matter how high I jumped. Hopefully I'll be back alongside the canal later this week.

They've been taking the thin blue line down over the last few weeks; it seems to have gone completely now. In case you hadn't seen it, this was the blue fence that encircled the entire Olympic site, it was decorated by images many seemingly done by local school children. It had a few windows to look through, but generally kept what was going on inside out of public view. The replacement is a wire fence, somewhat reminiscent of Colditz, but at least you can see what's going on. I read that the outside of the stadium is finished and will be completed by summer 2011 and the whole park is just four days behind schedule.
